Postcards Q&A
15 answers about postcard design, sizes, paper, printing, Miami orders, shipping and mailing.
Straight answers to the questions customers ask before printing. Compare your options, prepare your artwork and plan your deadline with confidence.
1. Are printed postcards useful for a small business?
They can put one clear offer into someone’s hands: a local opening, service reminder, event or promotion. They also work as counter handouts and package inserts. Give the recipient a specific reason to respond rather than trying to list everything you sell.
2. What should I put on a marketing postcard?
Use a clear headline, one main benefit, a strong image and a simple call to action. Add your business name and contact details. If mailing, plan the address and postage space before finalizing the design.
3. What postcard sizes can I order?
Our form offers 4 × 6, 5 × 7, 6 × 8 and 8 × 10 inches. A smaller format suits a short message; a larger format gives images and details more room. Print size alone does not determine the postage category.
4. Should I use 14pt or 16pt paper for postcards?
Both thicknesses are available on coated or uncoated cardstock. 16pt is thicker than 14pt. Choose for your budget and handling needs, then check mailing requirements if you intend to send the cards through USPS.
5. What is the difference between coated and uncoated postcards?
Coated stock has a treated surface with matte or gloss finish options. Uncoated stock has a natural paper surface and uses the uncoated finish. Consider whether recipients need to write on the card and request a suitable sample if that matters.
6. Should postcards have a matte, gloss or uncoated finish?
Choose matte for a low-sheen coated look, gloss for a reflective coated surface, or uncoated for a natural paper feel. Our form keeps paper and finish compatible. For a mailed campaign, confirm that the address area works with your mailing method.
7. How much does postcard printing cost?
The live order form calculates printing by size, paper, thickness and quantity. Compare the total and per-print price there. A digital proof and full-color printing on both sides are included. Design, tax, shipping and postage are separate.
8. How many postcards should I print for a local campaign?
Count your intended recipients or distribution locations, then allow for handouts and replacements. The form offers 100 through 10,000 in eight quantity options. Start with a manageable test when the offer or audience is new; measure responses before expanding.
9. Can postcards be printed on both sides?
Yes. Our postcard printing includes full color on both sides. Use one side to attract attention and the other for supporting details. If mailing, protect the space needed for the delivery address, postage and any required postal markings.
10. Can I use Canva, and what artwork files should I upload?
Export a print-ready PDF with 0.125-inch bleed on each edge when the design runs to the trim. The form also accepts JPG, PNG and TIFF, up to 25 MB per file, with separate front and back uploads. We review artwork before production.
11. Will I see a postcard proof, and can you help with design?
We send a digital proof before printing. Review the offer, dates, contact details, spelling and any QR code. If you need layout or artwork help, leave uploads blank and describe the project; design is quoted separately.
12. How long does postcard printing take?
Standard printing is approximately 8–10 business days after proof approval. Faster options are 5–7 business days for $10 extra or 1–2 business days for $25 extra per order. Shipping and postal campaign delivery happen afterward and require separate planning.
13. Can I order postcards locally for a Miami business?
Yes. SlaterGraphics is based in Bay Harbor Islands and serves Miami-area projects. Use the Postcards order form or call or text 305-310-0107. Confirm collection or local handoff directly rather than assuming same-day pickup is available.
14. Does postcard printing include shipping, mailing or postage?
No. Shipping your printed order to you is separate from mailing individual postcards to recipients. The form offers UPS Ground / Simple Rate, FedEx 2Day / One Rate, or direct arrangements. Discuss addressing, mailing services and postage separately before committing to a campaign.
15. Can I mail every postcard size with a postcard stamp?
No. USPS postage depends on dimensions, thickness and mail class, not the product name. Larger cards may need letter or other pricing. Check the current USPS size and addressing rules before printing; do not assume an 8 × 10 card qualifies for postcard-rate postage.
